Powerlevel Tailoring to 300
When I started Adrenis, I chose Enchanting and Herbalism as my two main professions. I picked Enchanting both for the gold making potential (DE’ing greens for the mats) and for the usefulness of the profession.
Herbalism, on the other hand, I chose solely to make money - gathering professions are a good way to do that as you level, and I’d never had an Herbie before. From the start my plan was to keep Herbalism until I hit 70 and then switch over to Tailoring.
Well, I’m not quite 70 yet (68 as I write this), but I was bored the other day and decided to go ahead and pick up Tailoring and level it up to 300. Here’s how I did it. If you’re trying to powerlevel Tailoring as well, or even if you just want to level it with the least amount of expense, then this guide will help you out.
Couple of things before we start: I strongly suggest that you do this powerleveling in conjunction with Enchanting (so that you can DE everything and recoup some of the money you’re gonna spend). If you’re an Enchanter, then great. If not, then find a friend or guildie who is, and send him everything you make so that he can DE it all (just make sure he knows to send it all back to you
).
Also, there’s nothing worse than getting halfway through and then getting stuck at level 175 or 215 because you can’t find the mats that you need to keep going. Stockpiling mats for a few days (or even longer) will help things go much smoother (and cost you less money too).
Linen - You’re going to need a boatload of Linen. I used around 30 to 40 stacks (600 to 800 pieces).
Bolt of Linen Cloth - 1 to 50
White Linen Robe - 50 to 70
Handstitched Linen Britches - 70 to 100
Wool - I didn’t need as much Wool as I thought I would. I only had around 15 to 20 stacks of it, but that proved to be sufficient.
Bolt of Woolen Cloth - 100 to 105
Heavy Wool Gloves - 105 to 125
The Gloves were still Yellow at 125, so if you have more wool, feel free to keep skilling up on it until it turns Green (or even Gray if you want). I was out of Wool at this point and so I just moved on to Silk.
Silk - I used around 25 to 30 stacks of Silk.
Bolt of Silk Cloth - 125 to 145
Azure Silk Pants - 145 to 160
Azure Silk Vest - 160 to 175
EDIT: I just recently came across the Dark Silk Shirt Pattern which uses less Silk cloth than the Azure Silk Vest. If you feel like making a trip to Tarren Mill or Darkshire to grab the pattern, that would be an easier way to get to 170.
At this point I was running out of Silk and so I moved on to Mageweave. However, if you still have some Silk left over that’s good, because I ended up having to come back to Silk and buy more.
Mageweave - I used a good bit of Mageweave. Probably around 40 to 50 stacks.
Bolt of Mageweave - 175 to 185
At this point, I realized there were not any good Mageweave recipes until skill level 205. Since I had a bunch of Mana Potions available on my druid, I decided to go with the Long Silken Cloak to get me to 205. You may want to see what mats you have available (don’t forget your Guild Bank!), and choose your own path to 205.
Back to Silk
Long Silken Cloak - 185 to 205
Back to Mageweave
Black Mageweave Leggings - 205 to 221
Black Mageweave Gloves - 221 to 233
Black Mageweave Shoulders - 233 to 250
The skill numbers on those three items are funky because I would go buy a load of Mageweave, and then make as much of one item as I could, and then go train for the next item. If you want to keep making one item until it turns Green, feel free.
Runecloth - You’ll need more Runecloth than any other cloth. I used at least 60 to 70 stacks.
Bolt of Runecloth - 250 to 260
Runecloth Belt - 260 to 285
At this point, things really get interesting
Your goal is to get to 300 any way that you can. Frankly, it’s not gonna be cheap.
I went with Frostweave Pants and Felcloth Hood because the mats were available in my Guild Bank and the AH. Your mileage will vary, so check to see what’s available when you are doing this.
Frostweave Pants - 285 to 292
Felcloth Hood - 292 to 300
Woot! You’re done. Now head over to Dalinna or Hama (Thrallmar and Honor Hold, respectively) to learn Master Tailoring and start working on that Netherweave!
Final Notes
I estimate that I spent around 400G on doing this. The vast majority of that money was spent after skill level 225.
I disenchanted everything I made. Here’s a list of all the mats that I got from DE’ing, with an approximate total value for each item (using the average price from Wowhead):
Strange Dust x 124 - 12 G
Lesser Magic Essence x 37 - 7.5 G
Small Glimmering Shard x 3 - .75 G
Soul Dust x 28 - 5.5 G
Lesser Astral Essence x 33 - 8.25 G
Lesser Nether Essence x 28 - 56 G
Large Radiant Shard x 2 - 16 G
Vision Dust x 104 - 52 G
Small Radiant Shard x 3 - 18 G
Lesser Mystic Essence x 6 - 3 G
Dream Dust x 80 - 56 G
Lesser Eternal Essence x 37 - 129.5 G
Large Brilliant Shard x 2 - 20 G
Illusion Dust x 13 - 26 G
Total : 410.5 Gold
Wow, I pretty much broke even? That’s awesome!

So…You spent all that gold on tailoring, but…You got it all back? It’s not fair :’(
Hehe…Awesome site Adr, I like looking at the guides
Hey Urek! Thanks for coming by =D Yeah, I was pretty surprised when I added everything up and saw that I broke even. Not too bad of a deal =)
